Champion's Tophy

I see that we've collapsed twice and are about to go out...I guess it's not really that surprising given our recent run. The bowling looks awful and yet it's our batting that is doing even worse...we need a dependable Thorpe like character in there but we just don't have one unfortunately, no matter how hard Collingwood tries. Yardy seems to be a good find though, at least for a squad place in the World Cup.

Fingers crossed the test team play a little better in Australia...

There are some positives though - Bell seems to have grown up and can now bat against Australia without looking like a rabbit in headlights. Anderson bowled well, and even Mahmood bowled quite decently in patches. Pietersen thrives on the big occasion (noone really seems to care much about the Champions Trophy, so hopefully he's focusing on the Ashes). We need to get Flintoff back where he belongs at 5 or 6 where he is used to batting and knows how to play best... And of course get him fit to bowl again too! Harmy doesn't seem to like touring the sub-continent - hopefully Oz will be more to his liking.

I think Allan is being pretty charitable: I thought that most of the players in the two games showed little passion in representing their country and significantly underperformed, Anderson probably being the only exception. Since the one series in which he did well (West Indies?) Harmison has done absolutely nothing and, if only there was anyone else, wouldn't get into the team now. Pietersen needs to concentrate more on his performance and less on his oversized ego.
I view the Ashes Tour with great trepidation!

Obviously Fletcher and Pietersen read my comments, since Fletcher dropped Harmison and Pietersen concentrated for once! Then look what happens, we actually win a one-dayer!
