You can NOT be serious...
Surely that must be what Strauss is thinking - I gather he wasn't out again...the 3rd time in a row he's been triggered by an umpire, and his previous 3 innings he got himself out with stupid shots. 6 innings in the Ashes and he hasn't actually been got out by good bowling from the Aussies yet - he must be fuming.
Apart from that little moan, the less said about the cricket the better really. But on the positive side of things we've secured 2 tickets to the 2nd day of the Sydney test match on 3rd Jan (thanks Mailee). We had a choice and went for day 2 because any later and the match could have already been over! Michelle is busy learning the Barmy Army chants, the latest of which I gather is:

I agree, poor old Strauss, triggered by the same umpire twice in the same game. I know Koertzen doesn't have replays etc, but my immediate reactions, watching both the Strauss decisions live also a fairly obvious pad-bat catch when the Aussies were batting, would have produced three correct decisions rather than the three wrong (and anti-England) ones he gave - and the tv image is from further away than the 22 or so yards of his view. I don't think he concentrates as hard as some of the other "elite" umpires.
However disappointing these decisions are in view of the crucialness of the game, they can't entirely be blamed for England's demise. Who is supposed to be the England batting coach at present? Only Pietersen moves his feet consistently, and unfortunately he seems to treat a 5-day test as a 20-20 game. Flintoff and Jones NEVER move their feet: surely the latter must be playing his last game for England; he's probably the second worst batsman (to Hoggard) in this team and only Fletcher seems to believe in his wicket-keeping. Although Strauss shouldn't have been given out in the first innings, it was a very poor shot to a pretty wide ball without moving his feet.
Glad you've got tickets for the second day of the Sydney test; are your tickets for the second and third days at Melbourne confirmed now? Pity that, miracles apart (double hundreds for any two of Cook, Bell, Collingwood, Pietersen or Flintoff!), there won't be anything other than whitewash avoidance riding on these games. At Perth I'm slightly surprised Ponting didn't bat on into Sunday and then rely on Warne to get us out: 557 at 3 an over requires a miracle for us, 650 at 4 an over would be impossible.
Enjoy your last few days in Bali, and hope the flight to Oz goes smoothly. Do you have any accommodation lined up in Oz? If not, it might not be easy to find somewhere on spec arriving two days before Christmas.
Looking forward to seeing Michelle's imminent(?) post....!
yes, we're lucky enough to have accomodation at sarsha (a friend from Syzygy)'s parents beach house over Xmas. New Year in Sydney is another matter though...looking pretty homeless there! Something will work out I'm sure.
Unfortunately I think the two late wickets mean it's all over in the test...since when did we start batting so slowly? We should have 100 more than we do...
