Girnar Hill

Next morning we were up at dawn again...or in fact before dawn, to start the trek up 10,000 steps to a temple where we got some blessing or other. Some poor people actually made their living by carrying people up the steps as in one of the pics above...it was pretty hard - we've both had sore calves since - but we made it, much to Michelle's surprise. When we got to the top we were asked to repeat some words that the priest(?) said and he markled our foreheads with a brown dot with his finger. We were then given some coconut micture to eat, paid a about 10p or something, and rang a bell twice before leaving. All over in 2 minutes after over 3 hours going up the steps!

Needless to say we struggled for the rest of the day a little...
